Acceptance of Terms

By accessing ia-tree.com, downloading i.a.T. Viewer, or purchasing i.a.T.Creator, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. These Terms form a binding legal agreement between you and Interactive Argument Tree PLT (Registration No. 202604001548), the operator of ia-tree.com.

Your continued use of any product after changes to these Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account on ia-tree.com. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement. i.a.T. Viewer may be downloaded and used by anyone, as it requires no account.

Educational institutions may create institutional accounts for classroom use under teacher supervision. In such cases, the institution is responsible for ensuring students use the platform in accordance with these Terms and for obtaining any parental consents required by applicable law.

User Accounts

To access platform features beyond anonymous browsing, you must register with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You may hold one account per person. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent a suspension or ban is a violation of these Terms and may result in permanent removal of all associated accounts.

You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Account → Delete Account. On deletion, your personal data is anonymised. Content you have contributed — including comments and panelist contributions — is retained in anonymised form to preserve the integrity of published trees. Your published trees are deleted. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data retention.

Content and Ownership

4.1 Your content

You retain full copyright over all argument trees and content you create and submit to ia-tree.com. By submitting content, you grant Interactive Argument Tree PLT a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, revocable licence to display, store, and distribute your content on the platform. This licence ends when you withdraw your tree from the platform or delete your account.

ia-tree.com is a platform that provides a space for you to display your trees. We do not claim ownership of your content.

4.2 AI-generated trees

i.a.T.Creator includes an AI Generate feature that produces argument tree structures based on your input and configuration. You own the output of any generation you initiate and pay for. You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated content before publishing it. ia-tree.com makes no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of AI-generated content. AI output is not a substitute for professional, legal, medical, or scholarly advice.

4.3 AI metadata enrichment

When an Admin approves a submitted tree for publication, we may use AI tools to fill missing metadata fields — specifically the author attribution, tags, and domain classification — if these were left empty at submission. The core content of your tree (its nodes, arguments, and structure) is never modified by this process. You will see the enriched metadata when your tree is published.

4.4 Platform content

All platform-created content — including the ia-tree.com interface, templates, and i.a.T. branding — is owned by Interactive Argument Tree PLT. You may not reproduce, copy, or redistribute platform content without prior written permission.

Panelist System

Publishers may invite up to five panelists per tree by entering their registered email addresses. Access is granted immediately upon the Publisher saving the panelist list — there is no separate invitation acceptance step. If you are added as a panelist without your knowledge or consent, contact support@ia-tree.com to be removed.

As a panelist, you may add content to a Publisher's tree. You may not remove, edit, or overwrite existing tree data. Contributions you make as a panelist are attributed to your account and cannot be removed by you after submission. By contributing as a panelist, you grant the Publisher a licence to include your contribution in their tree, including in any exported .iat file.

Publishers may remove a panelist from their tree at any time. Removal ends future edit access but does not delete existing contributions already made.

Comments

Signed-in users may post General Comments on published trees. Comments are publicly visible and attributed to your account. Threaded replies are supported.

You may not delete your own comments after posting. If you believe a comment you posted should be removed, contact support@ia-tree.com. On account deletion, your comments are retained in anonymised form (“Deleted User”) to preserve the coherence of discussions.

Any signed-in user may report a comment. Reported comments are flagged for Admin review. Admins may remove comments that violate our Content Policy. The report button is disabled after you have reported a comment — you cannot report the same comment twice.

Submissions and Moderation

Signed-in users with a Creator license may submit argument trees to the community via the Submit a Tree flow. Submitted trees enter a pending state and are reviewed by an Admin before publication. You will not be notified of approval or rejection automatically — check the Community page to see if your tree has been published.

During the approval process, Admin may use AI tools to enrich missing metadata as described in Section 4.3. Admin approval of a tree is a moderation step to verify compliance with our Content Policy. It does not constitute endorsement of the views, arguments, or positions expressed in the tree.

Trees are published across 16 domains:

The platform supports submissions in English, Vietnamese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Arabic, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Admin may archive, unpublish, revoke, or remove any tree at any time for violations of the Content Policy, for platform maintenance reasons, or in response to demands from legal or governmental authorities.

Revocation is a distinct action from deletion. A revoked tree is immediately invisible to the public but is not permanently removed — the Publisher can view it in their My Submissions dashboard along with the reason for revocation. A revoked tree may be restored to published by Admin, or permanently deleted by Admin. The Publisher may also delete their own revoked tree from their My Submissions dashboard at any time. Where Interactive Argument Tree PLT is permitted by law to notify the Publisher of the reason for a compliance-driven revocation, we will endeavour to do so via the My Submissions dashboard. There is no obligation to provide advance notice of revocation.

Permanent deletion of a tree is irreversible and removes the tree, all associated comments, engagement data, node flags, rebuttals, and stored files entirely. Trees removed for Content Policy violations or authority demands are not returned to their Publisher.

Generate Feature

The AI Generate feature is available to users with an active Creator license. It produces structured argument trees based on your input text, configuration, and chosen model tier.

Generation is metered by iat-tokens, which are purchased separately from the Creator license via token packs. The cost of each generation is estimated before you confirm — you may review and cancel before tokens are consumed. Tokens are deducted from your balance when generation completes.

The following conditions apply to the Generate feature:

• You are responsible for the content you input into the Generate feature. Do not submit confidential, personal, or legally sensitive material as generation input.
• AI-generated output may contain errors, hallucinations, or inaccuracies. You must review output before publishing. ia-tree.com accepts no liability for errors in AI-generated content.
• Generated trees remain subject to the Content Policy if published to the community.
• Token balances do not expire but are non-transferable and have no cash value.

Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use ia-tree.com to:

• Post, submit, or distribute content that incites violence, hatred, or discrimination against any person or group
• Post, submit, or distribute pornographic, sexually explicit, or indecent content
• Harass, threaten, impersonate, or abuse other users
• Submit content that is defamatory, fraudulent, or intentionally misleading
• Spam, flood, or abuse the submission or comment systems
• Circumvent, disable, or interfere with platform security or moderation systems
• Create multiple accounts to evade a suspension or ban
• Use the Generate feature to produce content that violates any of the above
• Use the platform for any purpose that is unlawful in your jurisdiction or in Malaysia

Violations may result in content removal, tree revocation, account suspension, or permanent ban at Admin discretion. Content revocation and account suspension are separate actions — a tree may be revoked without the Publisher's account being suspended, and vice versa.

Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban any account that violates these Terms or our Content Policy. The severity of the action — warning, suspension, or permanent ban — is at Admin discretion based on the nature and severity of the violation.

Tree revocation (see Section 7) is a content-level action and is separate from account-level suspension or termination. A tree may be revoked without the Publisher's account being suspended. Account suspension or termination may occur independently of, or in addition to, content revocation, depending on the circumstances.

In cases of severe or repeated violation, we may permanently ban your account without prior warning. A permanent ban prevents login for an indefinite period. In the most severe cases — such as illegal content or repeated ban evasion — we may hard-delete your account and all associated data with no possibility of recovery.

There is no formal appeal process. If you believe your account was suspended or banned in error, contact support@ia-tree.com and we will review your case at our discretion.

Account termination does not entitle you to a refund of any Creator license purchase or remaining token balance, except where required by applicable law.

Creator License Purchase

The Creator license is a one-time purchase at USD 33.30, processed by Paddle.com as Merchant of Record. It unlocks the full feature set of i.a.T.Creator (desktop) and the Generate feature. The license is tied to your account and is recognised across your devices when you sign in.

The Creator license is subject to a 14-day money-back guarantee, with the following condition: if you have used the Generate feature after purchase, the refund guarantee does not apply. Token consumption constitutes substantial use of the product. To request a refund within the eligible window, contact support@ia-tree.com with your purchase details.

Refunds are processed by Paddle in accordance with their policies and may take 5 to 10 business days to appear. Pricing is in USD; local taxes are calculated at checkout by Paddle.

Token Purchases

iat-tokens are purchased separately from the Creator license via token packs, processed by Paddle.com. Tokens are credited to your account balance immediately on purchase confirmation.

Token purchases are non-refundable under all circumstances. Tokens have no cash value, are non-transferable between accounts, and cannot be exchanged for currency. Token balances do not expire.

If a generation fails due to a platform error — not due to insufficient balance or user cancellation — any tokens consumed by that failed generation will be refunded to your balance. Contact support@ia-tree.com if you believe tokens were incorrectly consumed.

Disclaimers and Liability

13.1 Platform not publisher

ia-tree.com is a platform that hosts user-generated argument trees. We are not the author, editor, or publisher of user-submitted content. We do not endorse the views, arguments, or positions expressed in any tree, comment, or contribution on the platform.

13.2 No warranty

The platform is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that any particular feature will remain available. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time without notice.

13.3 AI disclaimer

AI-generated content produced by the Generate feature and AI metadata enrichment applied during tree approval may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. Neither constitutes professional, legal, medical, financial, or scholarly advice. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated or AI-enriched content before relying on or publishing it.

13.4 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Interactive Argument Tree PLT shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including loss of data, loss of tokens, or reliance on AI-generated content. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Creator license or token packs in the three months preceding the claim.

Dispute Resolution

Both parties agree to attempt to resolve any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the platform amicably and in good faith before resorting to any formal legal proceeding. If you have a dispute, contact support@ia-tree.com and we will make reasonable efforts to reach a fair resolution within 30 days.

Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive or equitable relief from a court of competent jurisdiction where necessary to prevent irreparable harm.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via a notice on ia-tree.com. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the date of the most recent update. Your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
